The Sonex

I have decided to build the standard configuration (tail wheel) airframe and power it with a 2180 cc Aero Vee engine. The Aero Vee is a modified VW plant which comes in a kit, with all new parts and CNC machined block. It is basically a brand new engine ideal for this aeroplane. It will have dual control sticks and the optional lowered seat design, allowing a 6’2” bubba like me to fit comfortably within. I do not intend to paint anything more than the nose fairing, wheel pants and fibreglass tips. The rest of the airframe will be polished using the NuVite® system.

Here’s an artist’s impression of what mine will look like. The white bits are actually polished aluminium – I couldn’t get a mirror type colour in my Paint software.
