Rear Spar

I started the RH rear spar and immediately made two huge mistakes. The first one was not paying attention to the overall measurement of the channel - I cut it to 96" instead of 95.75". The second was not measuring the hole locations from a single datum line - I measured the next location from the previous, thus building in about 1/4" error over the length of the spar. Result - one trashed spar channel. For the US builder, this would mean an order for a new one ($22.00 plus a small amount for shipping). For us in Australia, the shipping costs are astounding. Fortunately, there is a gifted metalworker living in Wagga Wagga who is scratch building a Sonex. He agreed to make me a rear spar. From disaster to minor inconvenience.
